 2023 Preview 


       Prattville Christian completed the 2022 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Prattville Christian just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region three with a 2-4 region record.

       The Panthers improved in 2022 with their first winning season since 2010. The Panthers won as many games as in any season since 2016. The Panthers have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2023.

       Since 2010, Prattville Christian has gone a combined 45-92. Their 32.8% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 17 seasons, Prattville Christian has not won much with a record of 55-124. Their 31.0% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 3A and 350th in the AHSAA. The Panthers have struggled on the football field with only three winning seasons during this time.




       The Panthers are led by head coach Norman Dean who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-12 over the past two seasons at Prattville Christian. The Panthers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Dean. Over the course of his career, Coach Dean's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won one region championship.

       The Panthers could be improved in 2023 with a returning QB and RB leading the charges.

       The Panthers could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region three this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Prattville Christian has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2017 but hope to return to the post season this year.

      QB Tanner Byrd will be returning after completing 85 of 150 passes for 1,280 yards last season along with 19 touchdowns.

      Jacob Hollon will be back this season at running back after rushing for 952 yards and 5 TDs in 2022.

       The Panthers open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Billingsley on Friday, August 25 at Panther Field. Last year the Billingsley Bears finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 1A region four. The Bears closed out the regular season with a loss to Thorsby by a score of 42-22.

       Prattville Christian and Billingsley have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 3-7-0 record against the Bears. They last met in 2022 with Prattville Christian winning by a score of 25-14.
